Upon completion of this course, the student will understand what types of groups are eligible for group insurance and the types of employee benefits the employer may offer. Additionally, the student will understand the legal requirements that must be met and the documents required to install the various group plans. Students will learn when a cafeteria plan is advantageous for a group and what benefits are allowed to pass through a cafeteria plan. At the end of the course, the student will have a general understanding of the rules governing Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRAs) and Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) that are continuing to evolve and increasing in popularity. Flexible Spending Accounts will be discussed and how they relate to cafeteria plans and how they may coordinate or replace HRAs.
